E-Dee seeks to ‘Elevate’ with new album

May 30, 2022

Recording artiste and actor E-Dee recently released his latest full-length album, titled Elevate.

Among the tracks on the 16-song compilation is his latest single, titled Every Time I See You, for which a music video was released in conjunction with the album. The album exudes the classic vibes of '90s and 2000s dancehall, as well as conscious roots-reggae. The album is produced by his long-time collaborator, Grammy-Award winner Qmillion.

"When it was time to make the album, I wanted to return to the elements in dancehall that made us all love it in the first place, the party vibes and some tune fi di gyal dem. So much of dancehall these days is far from that, so I want to bring back the love and bashment settings to the music," he said. "This album is set up like the classic albums from Buju and Beenie, where you have dancehall vibes but you also have roots on the album. So, it is well-rounded and gives you all the moods and energy."

The lyrics on various singles paint the picture of what it's like to be a dancehall artiste in Hollywood, for example: '... lifestlyes of the rich and reckless, champagne showers and sex for breakfast', which are featured on Needed Me. More conscious singles on the album that tackle systemic oppression include a collaboration with the legendary singer Glen Washington, titled Where I Belong; Ghetto Yutes Rise with I-Octane, and Revolution, which was done with Irie Love. There are other collaborations with Future Fambo and Wayne Wonder.

E-Dee is lining up shows for the summer and autumn in support of his new release.
