All-female dance crew, Afro Jam Tribe, placed second in this year's World Reggae Dance competition, and although satisfied with their performance in the competition, the group is determined to try and try again until the title is theirs.

Speaking with THE STAR in a post performance interview at the National Arena last Friday, the group said it was entering the competition for the first time, and the experience was an excitingly fulfilling one.

"We're honestly so happy right now. This competition really pushed us to work together and we learnt a lot about time management and just true dedication. We wanted first place; we tried hard at it but I guess this time wasn't our time just yet. But, for the first time entering and coming so close to the title, we cannot complain," said Kimiko Miller. "But although we're happy with our placing, we will try and try until we get that first place. We want to create history. In competitions like these, you always have a lot of male dancers and very few females, especially an all-female dance crew. We want to win this title to show that women can be just as good as the men."

Her teammate Nastascia Weard concurred.

"We entered this competition hoping to be an inspiration to other female dancers and that mission will continue until we are the champions. I'm not cutting around any corners, the competition took hard work but the second place is testament that with a few adjustments and improvements, first place is not unattainable," she said. "We learnt a lot and because we did this as an all-female crew, it will give other women out there the power to come out and go after what they want. We want females to be unafraid to represent themselves to the fullest."

The crew offered the only real challenge to winners Dynamix Team. And in addition to their second-place position, Afro Jam Tribe won the best costume sectional prize.

The team members walked away with $300,000 in cash for their efforts.
