Dancehall star Serani, although relatively quiet on the local music scene, has been making moves internationally.

The entertainer recently landed a spot on the latest album for Afrobeat's star, Burna Boy.

The compilation, African Giant, has been critically acclaimed by various international media outlets including Pitchfork and FADER.

According to Serani, his inclusion has created a good buzz for his career.

Serani's feature on the album comes via the track, Secret. The song, which also features US singer Jeremih, is a fusion of Afrobeat and dancehall and has been dubbed by several listeners on YouTube as a 'banger'.

Some listeners even singled out Jamaican singer Serani, pointing out that the way he handled the track should be taken as a sign that he is ready for a comeback.

Since it was uploaded on July 25, the song has already garnered close to 200,000 views.

Serani told THE WEEKEND STAR that he's been soaking up all the love and positivity put out for the track.

BIG SUCCESS

"It really feels good hearing all the positive feedback. Jeremih has been one of my favourite artistes since he first dropped, around the same time I was having the big success with No Games. They added him to the track to help appeal to the US urban market and his presence on the song really meant a lot. Burna is a phenomenal artiste as well and the record came out great, we're really proud of it," said Serani.

Serani's manager, Julian Jones-Griffith, said it was his idea to add an Afrobeat artiste to the song.

"I've been a fan of Burna's music for a while, so he was first on my list. I sent it to them at the end of last year and they took the song with them to Nigeria, where they were spending Christmas. They came back to me and said they loved it and asked if we would be comfortable letting them have the track for his album. I could see the momentum building around Burna and figured by the time his album dropped he would be on fire, and it worked out well," he said.

Burna Boy has been steadily gaining momentum on the international scene. He recently received the BET Award for Best International Artiste and is featured as the only solo act on Beyonce's Lion King album.
