Prepare yourself to become a wife

February 02, 2016

Hi readers,

I trust you had a great week, and thanks again for your feedback. No, I am not trying to let you remain

single! I just want you to be ready for a life-altering decision.

So many ladies dream of that special day, you know the one where all of the attention is on her in that gorgeous white dress - the flowers, the decorations, the cake and the bridal party; and let's not forget Mr Right.

Some of the women that I have met have an idea of what age they will be when Mr Right asks her to spend the rest of her life with him. She has the colours picked out, the month, the wedding party and even the guest list. That is so because, to many women, the wedding day is the turning point in her life that will lead to her happily ever after.

Many of us have focused (let's be honest) so much time and thought on the wedding and the marriage that we have never spent enough time and energy on the most important part - preparing to become a wife! So, girls, here are a few suggestions to get you started in the right direction.

1. Marriage is a divine

Now what do I mean by that? Well, I mean like a shoe-maker makes a shoe, the manufacturer of marriage is God. Without him, there would be no concept of marriage. He is the architect of marriage, and He can be consulted about the one you choose to marry.

Don't get me wrong, He might not always choose for you, but He certainly can guide you into making the right choice. It's best to seek wisdom from the One who best knows the product, as this will strengthen your focus and your marriage eventually.

2. Develop the ability to take care of a home. Ladies, this is just a preamble, but an important one to note. I know it's modern times and we don't wash plates as much or do housework nearly as much because we are working girls, but there is more to homekeeping than housekeeping. In order to be a great wife in marriage, we must bring the ability to emotionally and physically take care of the home.

Learn to set an atmosphere of peace and love, avoiding quarrels when possible

and practising gentleness, because our men know what they expect from a wife, and nitpicking is not one of those attributes.

Learn how to cook! Seriously! My grandmother once told me that a woman that cannot cook is not cute! We have also heard the old adage, 'the way to a man's heart is through his stomach'. Our men like to eat!

So let's be serious here, we all need to eat to live, but eating out all of the time can become expensive. And who doesn't love a good home-cooked meal from time to time? If you cannot do anything beyond boil water, invest in a cookbook.

Trust me, they work great every time, I have a few. While you are still single, try whipping up one new meal a week for yourself, and you will quickly improve your cooking skills.
