Final escapee in police custody

Nineteen-year-old Alunzo Espute, of Cassava Piece, Kingston 8, who was among the nine men that escaped from the Constant Spring police lock-up in St Andrew on Monday, August 18, is now back in custody.

Reports from the Yallahs police indicate that about 1:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 21, Espute was handed over to the authorities by a relative.

His return marks the successful recapture of all nine fugitives who had cut their way through a metal grille and door to escape earlier this week.

The nine escapees are:

* David Rhoden, 45, of Malvern Avenue, Kingston, charged with robbery with aggravation (recaptured shortly after escape).

* Alunzo Espute, 19, of Cassava Piece, Kingston 8, charged with murder.

* Brandon Ennis, 27, of Belvedere, Red Hills, charged with possession of a prohibited weapon.

* Talik Chambers, 23, of Burlington Avenue, Kingston 10, charged with identity theft.

* Dorique "Donque" Douglas, 25, of Upper Oxford Street, Kingston, charged with wounding with intent, shooting with intent, and malicious destruction of property.

* Fray Messias, 18, of Pinto, Stony Hill, charged with rape.

* Richard Bishop, 19, of Olympic Way, Kingston, charged with burglary and larceny.

* Junior Anthony Barnes, 31, of Iron River, Golden Spring, charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorized ammunition.

* Kamal Kelly, 25, of Mannings Hill District, St. Andrew, charged with shooting with intent.

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) has thanked members of the public for their cooperation in ensuring that all nine escapees were recaptured.
