Cop caught allegedly smuggling skin lightening products and ganja into lock-up

A 22-year-old police constable is under investigation after he was allegedly caught red handed trying to smuggle contraband into the Hunts Bay Police Lock-up in St Andrew.

The cop is said to be from the Cotton Piece district in St Catherine.

Reports are that about 8:40 p.m. on August 14, the officer, who was assigned to the 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. shift, was found with a plastic bag containing two mobile chargers, one cellular phone, bags of ganja and tobacco, rizzlers, a Neoplus lightening gel, Bio Brightening gel, a bottle of white rum and other items.

The discovery was made at the facility on Marcus Garvey Drive and the items were reportedly displayed in the constable's presence.

The Independent Commission of Investigations and the Jamaica Constabulary Force Inspectorate of Professional Standards and Oversight Bureau are investigating.
