Isiah Mentor leaves it to God
Recording artiste Isaiah Mentor has a poignant message in his single God Ago Deal Wid Dem.
"People are crying out for help from either the Creator or the Government, and are trying to combat vigilantes in the country. Vigilantism is on the rise and we don't want to promote that, so we're just sending a message that God will deal with them in time," the artiste explained.
The track came to fruition following an incident involving the murder of a young woman.
"A lot of people were hurt about that situation and in general, when you leave people up to time, their mentality becomes their sword. So this song is on that trajectory of trying to promote peace, unity, anti-violence [and] anti-gangs," he elaborated.
With his career dating back to the 1980s, Isaiah Mentor is one of the original artistes on King Tubby's Firehouse label. His first official song was Ghostbuster. Isiah Mentor said that he began singing as a child.
"I'd describe my music as the type that gives the voice to the voiceless, giving the microphone to those who need it and to hear their pain, hurt and even joy. I am put here as a vehicle to transmit all of these emotions to the public and policymakers around the world, for them to hear the voiceless and create conditions for them to live good," he said.
