Abusive husband won’t let me see my child

July 21, 2020

Dear Pastor,

I am 34 and a married woman. My husband is 29. I have a child less than a year old who is ill. She was discharged from the hospital and my husband has her at his home. I am devastated.

I can't see my baby because has refuses for me to see her. He treats my other children like animals. He is treating them like garbage.

He cheated on me with a woman who is overseas and when I told him I was going to leave him, he told me he was going to kill himself. He is very aggressive towards my baby. He is a smoker and a drinker.

I don't have a stable job to take care of this child. I am trying to get my child because when he goes out with his friends, he leaves my baby with his mother, who can hardly walk and is visually impaired. Pastor, please give me your advice. He physically abuses me. I have evidence.

A.A.

Dear A.A.,

From what I gather, although you and this man are married, you are not living together, and he does not want you to spend time with your child. I know for sure that you could get justice if you take this man to court.

You should not allow his threats about killing himself to deter you from doing what is right. He is trying to scare you.

Evidently, he is a heartless man. Perhaps you can discuss this matter with a lawyer before you go to court. Don't think that you can't afford a lawyer.

Many lawyers are very reasonable and they will try to help people. Not all of them are eager to break your pocket. You have a right to see your child as often as possible. So act on this matter immediately.

Pastor
