Melbourne, JDF keep pace in JCA Super 50 Zone D tight as both sides recorded a second win in Round 2

Melbourne and the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) maintained their strong start in the Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) Super 50, each securing a second win as Zone D began to shape up as a fierce contest.
Melbourne made short work of host St Mary Cricket Association at Three Hills Oval, dismissing them for 73 in 16.5 overs.
Matthew Comrie led the attack with 3-14, while Khari Campbell, Shalome Parnell and Abhijai Mansingh each claimed two wickets.
Ashane Aarons top-scored with 32 not out.
Melbourne then cruised to 78-2 in 8.1 overs, with Chadwick Walton finishing on 41 not out.
Tougher chase
The JDF had a tougher chase against UWI, but completed a six-wicket victory at UWI Bowl, Mona.
UWI were bowled out for 233 in 46.2 overs, with Steve Wedderburn top-scoring with 44. Tevin Gilzene took 3-37, while Gordon Bryan bagged 2-41 and Raheem Manning 2-35.
The JDF replied with 234-4 in 39.4 overs, powered by Andre Fowler’s 69 and Kevin Daley’s unbeaten 65. Joel Williams took 2-41 for UWI.
In Zone A, St Ann Cricket Association registered their second win to lead the standings. They made 232 all out in 38 overs, with Sashane Anderson scoring 59 and Renalda Ingram 46. National pacer Marquino Mindley, 3-27, and Omar Samuels, 3-29, were the main wicket-takers.
St Elizabeth CA were then dismissed for 139 in 24.5 overs, with Romaine Nembhard making 48, while Anthony McLean took 4-32.
Kensington success
At Preston Road, Kensington CC beat neighbours Lucas by six wickets in Zone C.
Lucas posted 230 all out in 47.2 overs, with Brandon English making 66 and Geovani Grey 43. Jamie Hay 2-30, Othniel Howell 2-33, and Andrew Lloyd 2-46 shared the wickets.
Kensington reached 231-4 in 41.2 overs, with Corey Hinds hitting 84 and David Dewar 81. Brandon English took 2-31.
In Zone B, Clarendon defeated St Catherine CA by four wickets.
St Catherine were bowled out for 175 in 42.3 overs. Rasheed Outar made 73 and Damion Wollaston 41, as Errol Thomas produced a destructive 6-38.
Clarendon chased down the target with 180-6 in 26.1 overs, as Anthony Brown scored 71. Davouney Davidson took 3-22.
Other winners in the round were Trelawny, Westmoreland, Mico, Police, Kingston CC and St Thomas.
