Social media personality Karlando ‘Bad Sekki’ Bailey was all smiles as he welcomed patrons to last Friday’s staging of FRi~NALLY.

Bailey was one of four popular Jamaican digital creators chosen to take the reins of the party series for its creator-led summer run, and he did everything in his power to keep patrons entertained. But this was nothing new for Bailey, who has been enjoying a strong run in the social media space, quickly becoming a fan favourite.

“This social media thing is really something weh mi love. Mi a do it and a enjoy myself within the moment. Mi glad seh people love the content, so me just ago keep giving it to them,” he told THE STAR.

“And when you consistent, the people love it even more. So, mi just a gwan give them me all every day fi keep dem coming back,” Bailey added.

The 26-year-old became popular through content documenting his day-to-day life as a security guard, which inspired the name Bad Sekki. But, according to Bailey, he never imagined he would leave that life behind.

“Mi always seh me never did ago stop do security work, but after a while, mi see seh me could a did do the social media without having to do security work. Plus, it gives me more time to really focus on the social media,” he explained.

“And it works out better because most of the time I would call out from the security work fi do the social media,” Bailey said, laughing.

While he admitted that he had little involvement in the design and logistics behind this staging of FRi~NALLY, that did not stop the event from delivering a little bit of everything – music, food and entertainment.

When it came to the music, DJs Fyahman, Vinchi and 3D kept fans moving throughout the night. And just when patrons thought they had seen it all, ‘DJ Bad Sekki’ took to the turntables, spinning some fan-favourite tracks and earning several ‘forwards’ in the process.

While he may have a bright future ahead of him as a DJ, Bailey said he remains committed to his social media journey.

“As long as di people wah me keep making content, me ago do it. As long as dem keep laughing, me ago keep doing it. So bless up to all di fans weh been a laugh, support, share and everything, me love and respect everybody,” Bailey told THE STAR.
