Montreal dancehall deejay Sampaloo kicked off 2023 with his latest single, Can't Stop Me.

The single is a part of producer Panta Son's 'Dancehall Venom' project, which also features artistes such as Tommy Lee Sparta and Jahvillani.

"While I was on tour across Canada with Ryging King, Panta Son saw me perform and said he must have me on his riddim," Sampaloo explained. "I'm happy for the new year to start, I have a lot more new projects lined up."

In 2022, Sampaloo performed at various stages shows across Canada, releasing two videos for the songs Black and Proud and My Baby.

Sampaloo, given name Deniston Mullings, was born in Kingston and raised in St Elizabeth. His moniker means 'discipline, honesty, and loyalty'. While a student at St Elizabeth Technical High School, he competed as a professional athlete, and always thought that running would be his lifelong career. However, his fate changed after getting accepted into the farmwork programme, which brought him to Canada.

Upon his arrival, he developed a passionate interest in music. Taking cues from conscious artistes like Josey Wales, Charlie Chaplin, and dancehall stars like Ninja Man, Beenie Man, and Bounty Killer, Sampaloo forged his own style and began his music career. He describes his music as "hardcore dancehall reggae" that addresses issues such as black-on-black crime, family values, and encouraging the youth to stay in school.

"Music brings joy to my soul and I am grateful to have been blessed with this talent," said Sampaloo.

He is popularly known for his hit Immigration, which addresses the struggles he encountered during his journey to becoming a landed immigrant in Canada.
