Strictly 2K added to Vacae Weekend

Strictly 2K - Best of the 2000s is partnering with Supreme Team Limited, promoters of Sandz and other events in Jamaica, for their Vacae Weekend parties series which is slated for April 7-13, in Ocho Rios, St Ann.

Strictly 2K will be held on Saturday, April 8 at Grizzly's Plantation Cove with several top DJs and entertainers expected to perform. Vacae Weekend, which started in 2019, boasts other top events such as Sandz, Pan Di Plaza Live, The Lawn and Aqua Holix.

"Supreme Team Limited is really excited to partner with Strictly 2K ... which is the biggest throwback party for millennials and Gen Z. It adds a different and greater offering for our patrons on Vacae Weekend", said Carlton Davy, director of Supreme Team Limited. "Our objective is to position Vacae as the premier party weekend in Jamaica for locals and members of the diaspora. With this partnership with Strictly 2K, we are one step closer to that goal and we're excited for this and other events on Vacae Weekend."

IB Konteh, communications director for Strictly 2K, said, "We're excited about this partnership and being part of Vacae Weekend, which we aim to position as the biggest party weekend in Jamaica. Since our announcement, excitement has been fever pitch asking about who's performing and when will tickets be available."

This will be Strictly 2K's 16th staging and seventh anniversary, having started in December 2016 in Kingston. The event, dubbed as a 'Throwback Music Festival', has also had stagings in Mandeville, Manchester, as well as New York, Atlanta, and Florida in the US. There are plans for Washington DC and Canada stagings in 2023.

Due to the success of the 2019 staging, Vacae Weekend has been welcomed back into St Ann by residents, vendors, hotel owners and other workers who usually benefit from an increase in earnings due to the influx of visitors from the diaspora and other parishes. With the recent announcement that hip-hop superstar Rick Ross has been billed to perform at Vacae Weekend, the promoters expect this year to be the biggest staging so far.
