Shawn Determine ‘vents’ in new track

Though Shawn Determine recognised his knack for the musical arts at an early age, it wasn't until the pandemic that he decided it was time to deliver.

After successfully completing his degree, he decided to visit the studio and record his first release, Complicated, as a part of the 'Major Way' rhythm which also features heavyweights like Rygin King and Prohgres. He then dropped Scared, a collaboration with Safiyah which managed to get curated by a few major Caribbean playlisters. In an effort to build on his momentum, Shawn Determine released Vent, a track he feels resonates with every demographic based on his own experiences.

"I was going through a tough phase where I was deceived by one of my closest friends and a family member on different occasions which led to me feeling frustrated and depressed. I felt like I didn't have anybody to talk to. So I just started writing to express myself the best way I knew how. I was able to overcome those feelings through that song and I hope it offers the same relief for everyone who listens," shared Shawn Determine.

He said that Vent has also helped him to overcome struggles he faces on his musical journey.

"To be honest, the journey has been a roller-coaster ride. Some days I feel like I am very close, next minute I feel like I'm very far, and songs like Vent are what get me through. Sometimes I'm highly motivated and sometimes I feel drained, but nevertheless I continue to push forward with no intentions of stopping," he said.

When asked about future projects he said that he tends to write at least one song per day, so he and his team are trying to select the perfect songs for the perfect timing.

"However, I can say that my personal favourite is Bruce Willis, which will be a motivational song for myself and others who have a fighting spirit. The release date is not yet set, but my fans can look for updates soon," he said.
