Twenty-five-year-old singer-songwriter Kimeco is channelling 'one love' energy in her music.

Stepping into the music industry at a time when the trending sound and message are not focused on love was probably not the plan for a millennial, who was born and raised in the March Pen Road vicinity of Spanish Town, St Catherine.

However, Kimeco, given name Kimberly Sabrina Lewin, told THE WEEKEND STAR that she plans to create a listening experience that reminds people to love and to treasure the gift of life.

She said, "Listening to my album should ignite a positive feeling. I want people to know they should cherish their lives now because we only live once."

Kimeco's debut is marked by the release of her album titled Unknown Queen, which is produced by Grammy-nominated producer, Richard 'Breadback' Bramwell.

"Some people's eyes will open wide when they read that I've taken on recording music as a profession, and of my capabilities because I have a calm personality. They'd be surprised by a lot of things," she said. "My first exposure to reggae was through my father. He always played reggae and dancehall music as well. I'm inspired by Bob Marley and I channel his energy whenever I write or record."

She had previously planned to take on a hardcore image in her hopes to break into the reggae-dancehall scene, but the music industry professional encouraged her to try a different entry. Not to be confused with another artiste who has the same name, Kimeco has kept her music and image clean and positive thus far.

The album has 10 songs which tell Kimeco's life story and speaks of other experiences. The first track, Profile, is her introduction, she said, adding that, "I may be unknown now, but I continue to be motivated by my children who make a queen out of me."

"Other tracks like Just Live is me reaching out to the hearts that really need to know that God sees their pain. Meanwhile Lovers and Best Friends speaks to couples. The message is that no matter what age you are, to make use of the love you got and hold on to it because not everyone can show you real love. So if you have, keep it," Kimeco shared.

With 2022 coming to a close, the singer-songwriter is anticipating that listeners will recognise her 'star on the rise' status by becoming familiar with her sound and image.

"I have so much to look forward to, including my album launch, a potential tour on the horizon, Europe specifically, and I'm putting it out there that I would like to appear on the Rebel Salute stage. I believe my catalogue and overall offering as an artiste fits their roster. I look out for more highlights," Kimeco said.
