Woman caught stealing mackerel attacks store owner
A St James woman who reportedly attacked a supermarket owner with a knife in the Granville community on Tuesday, after she was caught stealing a tin of mackerel from the establishment, is now being sought by the police.
The woman is said to be a janitor who is believed to be in her early 50s, and resides in Retirement, also in St James.
"Mi cuddun believe mi eye. After the woman find out seh she get ketch, instead she hol' har corner an tek time put back dung the mackerel, she pull knife pon the supermarket owner," an alleged eyewitness told THE WEEKEND STAR.
She said that the woman took the mackerel and put it under her clothes.
"But she neva know seh the owner fi the place see har. Him den grab har wen she was about fi leave and the woman bright enough fi pull out knife," she said. "All a wi haffi run fi cover after the supermarket owner pull out him gun and fire one shot inna the air fi stop the woman from stab him up."
The Granville police have confirmed the incident, and reported that it took place about 5:30 p.m. at Zeeks Supermarket, along Chambers Drive in Granville.
