My wife had a threesome without me

March 17, 2021

Dear Pastor,

I am 31 years old and I am married. My wife recently confessed to me that she spent a weekend with a girlfriend and was engaged in a threesome with her and her husband.

I was shocked, because I could not understand why she took part in a threesome. She said that her friend persuaded her to do so and it was only a one-time thing. She told me that the guy started out using a condom but during the act, she observed that he took off the condom. She also told me that he spent most of the time with his girlfriend, but he had sex with her also. I met my wife in the Church. I knew she was not a virgin, but I could never imagine her engaging in a threesome. Is it too late for me to divorce her? I thought I was marrying a wonderful saint. I know now that my wife is not a saint and I feel, to satisfy my mind, that I should invite another woman to our bedroom and see how it feels. She does not want me to do so. What should I tell my wife?

Dear T.L.,

What you are trying to say is that your wife fooled you, and you are quite correct; but please look at it this way, she did not have to tell you. For some reason or the other, she told you. So you are either going to forgive her or leave her, but I cannot encourage you to bring another woman into your relationship with your wife to spite her. That would not make any sense. I beg you to consider forgiving your wife for the terrible mistake that she made. Both of you should seek professional help to strengthen your relationship.
