JDF makes $40-million marijuana haul

The Maritime Air and Cyber Command of the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) seized approximately 663 pounds of marijuana valued at approximately $40 million during a successful vessel interdiction offshore Westmoreland yesterday.

Through a coordinated operation, a team from the JDF Coast Guard intercepted the vessel transporting the contraband. Thirty-seven bags of marijuana were seized during the interdiction. Two persons were detained in connection with the seizure. The JDF urges all seafarers to use Jamaica's maritime spaces in accordance with the law and to report illegal activities to the JDF Tip Line at 876-837-8888, the Maritime Air and Operations Centre at 876-967-8193, Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (Kingston) at 876-836-1216.
