Neville Mullings, 65, and his wife Venita, say they have not slept since Sunday night, after their eldest son, Denzil, 42, otherwise called 'Rasta' or 'Bobo', was shot and killed, allegedly by a relative.

Mullings told THE STAR that his son, who resides at Arcadia district, on the border of St Elizabeth and St James, is a very hard-working farmer, who spends most of his days caring for his family, rearing his animals, and cultivating peppers, yam, dasheen and other crops.

"Denzil is very jovial person who care fi him five children a lot, an mi cah believe seh di youth really shoot him," Mullings said.

It is alleged that Denzil and another man had an argument, in which the accused intervened. It is further alleged that Denzil chastised the accused, who left, but later returned with a firearm and shot Denzil twice.

Angry residents

The Spring Mount police, who are investigating, said immediately after the incident, angry residents cornered the 39-year-old accused, and beat him.

The police were summoned and upon arrival, a gun and the accused were handed over to the lawmen. He was admitted to the Black River Hospital and is under police guard.

Mullings told THE STAR that Denzil was killed in the exact spot where he used to reside four years ago, before tragedy struck then.

"Him did live wid him girlfriend, and him five children inna a little one-room house same place weh di boy shoot him up, but four years ago, gunman circle round him house and shoot it up, an kill him girlfriend an him two-year-old daughter," said Mullings.
