Annotto Bay stunned by double killing

March 02, 2020

Residents of Fort George in Annotto Bay, St Mary, are in a sombre mood after two of their own were cut down by bullets on Saturday night.

Donovan Hassizulle, 54, and 34-year-old Damian Wilson, both labourers, were shot by men in two cars who drove into the community about 9:45 p.m. and sprayed them with bullets.

Hassizulle and Wilson had just signed off from work in the Junction area of St Mary, where a major upgrading roadwork is taking place.

Residents have expressed shock that such an incident could have taken place in their community.

"It is not a comfortable feeling and this one will be hard to forget," one resident told THE STAR.

"The amount of gunshots that we heard on Saturday is more than enough to rattle our nerves for a long time to come. I don't think any of us will be able to venture outside after dark, as we are fearful that we could be the victim of another drive-by shooting. People are literally scared," the resident added.

The police reportedly recovered 21 spent shells from the crime scene.

Dr Norman Dunn, the member of parliament for South East St Mary, said the murders have left "everyone on edge". "Both men were sharing a drink with friends when the brutal act was committed," he said.
