Corporate Hands : GraceKennedy provides safe new spending option
Don Wehby, the group CEO of GraceKennedy, said the mobile wallet it launched last Tuesday represents a safe, secure, convenient way of getting business done.
"A number of other countries have entire economic systems built around mobile wallets, and its use has changed the way those countries transact business, as well as the opportunities that have opened up for citizens across various demographics," Wehby said.
The new mobile money platform, GK MPay, will allow subscribers to send and receive remittances via their smartphones. It can also be used to send and receive money, buy phone credit, receive remittances through Western Union, make purchases - including from street vendors - pay for services, and pay bills.
The GK MPay service is available as an app for smartphones, and the company said it is even targeting the "the jelly man and market vendor.
"It is also simply convenient for everyone, including the owners of the more than three million mobile phones on the island," Wehby said.
"We are pleased to finally be at this point where we can offer this really great service to you," he added.
