Lanae ready to clash at Sting
Fast-rising recording artiste Lanae has her fighting gloves on and is armed with lyrics for anyone who wants to clash.
While speaking to THE STAR at Tuesday's launch of Sting, the 25-year-old basically put out a dare to the dancehall fraternity to test her lyrical abilities.
"If somebody waan try me, let's go, I'm ready," Lanae boldly stated.
When asked if she had an artiste in mind who she would want to face on the stage, Lanae named three leading females.
She said, "First of all, the persons I would want to clash is not because I have anything personal against them, or any vendetta. It is because I respect them. I'd choose Jada Kingdom because she reminds me of myself and it would be like challenging myself; Shenseea because I just love everything about her; and if I could pick one veteran female, it would have to be Lady Saw. She is full of animation, jokes and she just knows how to deliver a full performance."
The Montego Bay born-and-raised artiste, who recently completed her university studies, expressed a little anxiety for her Sting debut but said she has been making preparations.
"It's the first Sting after so long, of course I'm a little anxious and maybe I'm not 100 per cent ready but that's minor things like my outfit. Dat me haffi sort out before November month-end. I will just keep practising my performance and doing little freestyles to exercise my songwriting on the spot," she said.
"The launch was different from what I expected, and the roster is also not what I expected because while it is an outstanding list of entertainers, mi nuh see nuh clash artiste like that. But everyone can be sure that there will be surprises. If the Sting promoters are known for anything, it is to surprise their patrons," she added.
One of the elements she has added to her live performance is dancers. She partnered with the viral dance duo Tanna and Anna, better known as T and A Twinz on TikTok, who were featured in the video for her collaboration with Vybz Kartel titled Too Young. The single has amassed more than 750,000 views on YouTube in the past three months.
Lanae has been charting a path to success with hits such as Hi School, Whine, and Chat Too Much, a remix to Govana's 2020 Hamants Convo, since her emergence in 2018.
"I believe one of my best qualities is that I'm a patient person. I'm doing what I'm supposed to do in terms of my career and because of this, everything will fall into place," Lanae said.
