Hewitt Entertainment has promised a fun-filled family day at Heroes Explosion in Resource, south Manchester, which is scheduled for Heroes Day, Monday, October 17.

For its inaugural staging, the organisers have secured the likes of Sizzla and Miguel Wealthy to provide conscious entertainment, as well as popular disc jockey ZJ Liquid to take control of the wheels of steel. According to Julia Hewitt, Manchester was selected as its launching pad because of its central location.

"We want Heroes Explosion to be an annual event that we take across the length and breadth of Jamaica, but we thought it important to choose somewhere at the centre of the island, and Manchester was the appropriate first location," Hewitt told THE WEEKEND STAR.

It also doubles as a platform to introduce Miguel Wealthy, formerly known as Excellence, as one of the rising acts. The Clarendon artiste has been dubbed a 'lyrical thesaurus' because of his ability to drop quick-witted freestyles during performances. He expressed that he and the event organisers have a shared goal to give back to each community that hosts Heroes Explosion and, following its first staging, they aim to assist a school in the south Manchester area.

"The thing is, we are not doing this for ourselves, we are doing it for the love of the culture and the music. But most of all, we are doing it for the benefit of the people," Miguel Wealthy said.

His catalogue boasts positive messaging, including songs like Safe Sex, which promotes safe sexual practices; Senseless Killing, which urges Jamaicans to retire the use of guns and jungle justice; and, as a tribute to those who have passed away, he released Never Deserve It. He believes the family-centred event is a great stage for him to continue raising awareness on the ways society can improve. He is also elated to share the stage with Sizzla.

"The event is really for the whole family. There will be something for everyone to enjoy, so we want people to come out and spend Heroes Day with us. There will be many prizes and surprises especially for the children, a dance competition, rides, and other fun-filled activities," he said.

Heroes Explosion will be hosted by Manchester's own Hype Type and features a car and bike show, kids' zone, and live performances by other on-the-rise and established artistes.
