Eight-time Olympic gold medallist Usain Bolt, alongside manager and co-producer Nugent 'NJ' Walker, shines light on social issues facing Jamaicans in their newly released single, Cryptic World.

The song, which is a powerful piece of social commentary, was dropped last Friday along with accompanying visuals. Bolt, who has made strides in the entertainment business since his retirement from athletics, makes a bold statement at the start of the song.

"No matter where we are in life, w e will never forget where we're from," he says, setting the tone for thought-provoking piece.

The Trelawny-born Bolt, who is the world's fastest man, said he saw the need to produce a song addressing the issues being faced by Jamaicans.

"I am a person who connects with people daily. Every day I meet someone who shares struggles that they are faced with ... asking me how I can assist. So this song, Cryptic World, is my way of saying to people, yes, I hear their voices, and will always do my best in my own little way to help or just shed some light on the different issues," Bolt said.

Released under the Bolt-owned A-team Lifestyle record label, Cryptic World was penned by NJ. The song highlights some of the blatant flaws in Jamaica's social and political systems.

"Times are getting red, things ar e getting dread. It's a cryptic world its designed to stress your head," sings NJ. He points to issues such as the increasing number of murders on the island, hunger and starvation affecting sections of the population, and ineffective leaders.

"I am always writing different types of songs. After speaking with a practising educator friend of mine, who shared how challenging things are, I was moved to write Cryptic World," NJ said. In the song, he called for critical thinkers to come forward and help solve Jamaica's woes, noting that finger-pointing is not the answer.

NJ, in the song, says the current sociopolitical system has left many in misery and should be revisited.

"We will no longer be tricked by their concepts and philosophies. We need a system that supports and uplift our youths, or the crime monster will take away their roots," he says.

Cryptic World is the latest in a slew of projects being release under the A-team Lifestyle label. Previous works include Usain Bolt Present: 9.58 Riddim, Usain Bolt Presents: Olympe Rose, Usain Bolt Presents: Immortal Riddim, Usain Bolt Presents: Clockwork Riddim, and Country Yutes.

"As I continue to learn, grow and evolve in the music business, it's important that I produce different types of music. I have done party songs, lifestyle, etc. So now I'm producing another social commentary-type of music that addresses the many issues facing our society," Bolt said of Cryptic World.
