Reggae dolly Aiesha unapologetic and raw
Though she has had a burning passion for music since she was a child, singer Aiesha only decided to take on the journey once she knew she was ready.
The daughter of renown musician Aston 'Family Man' Barrett, Aiesha was born in Kingston, but grew up in the United Kingdom and in the United States. She studied music at New York University.
"My father told me to go and find my key, my sound and my niche. Then I'll know when I'm ready, when the time is right," said Aiesha.
She took her dad's advice and has now embarked upon a musical career. Describing herself as a reggae dolly, Aiesha promises to be "authentic and unapologetic and raw".
"I was born into music, and I've been shy to sing, but lately, I've found my niche, so I am ready to face the light and enjoy the blessings that this journey has in store for me," she said.
Aiesha has collaborated on a single, Gimme, with veteran deejay Mad Cobra.
"Gimme is about a guy I love and me expressing my feelings for him and letting him know that I'm ready for this chapter. But I'm being patient and waiting on him until he's ready as well, but I'm not about no games either while waiting," Aiesha explained.
The song was produced by Trop Davinci and Lonegud and mixed and mastered by JJ Wizzle.
"I prepared myself before I decided to be a part of the music. I bring to the table a truly dedicated reggae artiste who is authentic and unapologetic and raw. I have no filter verbally or physically, I only know how to be me. I like to call myself the reggae dolly. Rasta inna mi heart, but all music is my soul," said the Florida-based singer.
