Recording artiste Dalwayne is making a statement on his new single, aptly titled Ready, which was officially released on July 15.

"The song is basically me announcing to the world that I am ready to take my craft to the next level after knocking on the door for years. I feel ready to take it up a notch in every aspect of my career, from production to business to touring and just work ethic in general," the artiste explained.

Produced by Phillip McFarlane, owner of the label of Irie Yute Tapes, Ready is described as an uptempo song with an African/Middle Eastern beat fused with '90s dancehall. The accompanying music video, also directed by McFarlane under McFarlane Filmz, displays African elements that are showcased through compelling scenes that were filmed in Mile Gully, St Mary.

"The feedback has been good so far. Everyone loves the message, the beat, the change of flow and it's easy to sing along. I have performed the songs several times since release, in New York and in North Carolina. I hope as I start this campaign in pushing the song, it will introduce a very substantial number of new fans of both reggae and dancehall through the radio, social media and streaming platforms," the artiste stated.

Having dabbled in music since high school, Dalwayne took the art more seriously in 2015, starting out as a DJ for multiple sound systems around St Mary. As a self-described singjay with positive and creative lyrics fitting both dancehall and reggae, the tone of this new single is not reflective of his everyday sound.

"The song is very much inspired by years of preparation, struggles, failures, down times. However, there is no burning fire within that's pushing me to drop songs like these. I want the world to see my talent but to also represent people's everyday struggles and experiences in the songs," Dalwayne said.

Dalwayne is working on his debut album for a 2023 release.
