Dancehall icons Bounty Killer and Beenie Man showed a unified front as they performed on stage during a cancer awareness fundraiser organised by Dancehall Queen Carlene at MECA, on Constant Spring Road, St Andrew, on Tuesday night.

In the lead-up to the event, the two traded words on social media. But on the night, the only jabs thrown musically were playful. Beenie Man was the first to throw jabs at his one-time rival. " Yuh think me know the p*******e dem nuh like me," he deejayed, pelting lyrics from his hit single Hypocrite that hits out against bad mind individuals. He acknowledged that the deejays have been rivals for more than 25 years.

"Bounty Killer we a 50-year-old, weh we a do wid war?" he asked while touching on his maturity as an artiste and family man. Two of his daughters, Crystal Davis, who he shares with Carlene, and dancer Desha Ravers, were on hand to experience the night's proceedings.

Bounty Killer came out firing on all cylinders. " Dem leave the world inna suspense" and " Run come look inna mi magnum bwoy" were some of the lyrics he pelted, a throwback to the 90s where he made his name. He then addressed Beenie Man's accusation that he had 'styled him'.

"Beenie weh yuh run gone. Me never say nothing, yuh too talky talky," he said, addressing Beenie Man's recent onstage rant. However, all of this was squashed as Beenie Man joined Bounty Killer on stage much to the audience's delight. Beenie Man even came to the defence of his colleague as he performed a song calling for punishment for entertainer Ishawna for dissing Bounty Killer during her Reggae Sumfest performance. Bounty Killer protegees K-Queens also lashed out against Ishawna for her onstage antics. The organisers of Reggae Sumfest have since apologised to Bounty Killer.

Tuesday's charitable event dubbed 'Celebrating Legends' is the brainchild of Carlene, whose sister Pinky is being treated for cancer. Her sister's ill-health went to the core of her heart and acted as motivation for her to organise the event which was well received.
