Up-and-coming artiste Topmann Donzlife's fiery performance heralded the return of the highly anticipated Reggae Sumfest 2022 Street Dance, which was held on the lawns of Pier 1 in Montego Bay on Monday night.

The trending song Gyal Code, which has almost a million views within a month, was one of his hits that had women tiptoeing in a frenzy as he delivered to thousands of patrons who begged for an encore after he finished his performance. Adding the icing to the cake, the young artiste was pampered by a patron who tied his shoelace while spitting his lyrics word for word during his performance. Topmann Donzlife, whose given name is Jamario Hines, was one of several artistes to launch the six-hour-long first night of the annual event.

CONFIDENT

In an interview with THE STAR, the upbeat entertainer said that he was not surprised by the reaction.

"I know that the songs went viral from before. Before any performance, I always go in with confidence knowing that people will know the songs, so I don't have to be worrying if anyone is going to be singing along with me, and then that nervous feeling is gone," he said.

"My entrance onstage was done based on proper preparation, and as you know, proper preparation prevents poor performance. I just went out there and executed and did what I had to do, and hopefully you're going to see me this week on Sumfest's dancehall night," he added.

Some patrons who took in Topmann Donzlife's performance shared the belief that he will return as a highlight performance for the rest of Reggae Sumfest's run this week.

"Him shell the show, mash it right up. When the Gyal Code song drop, mi haffi bawl out 'pull up'," a patron declared.

Topmann Donzlife's riveting performance was preceded by other fresh talent, including Virus Official, who let loose with his song It Nuh Look Good, Tesha, the sole female act of the night, who cut loose with her single Best Friend Girl', along with F.S. Crazy Shot and Microwave.

The selectors such as Sky Juice, Shukkle Bus, Dexta Peppa, C Note and DJ Banka had the crowd vibing until the show's end at 2 a.m.
