Dancehall-reggae singer Kae Music always had a knack for music and the performing arts, so when the all-female Sensation Band from Canada disbanded, and its members struck out on their own, she did not despair.

Instead, Kae Music rebranded herself, and continued singing. "Singing is my passion, so I wasn't going to give up," she said.

She launched her career as a solo singer in 2015 and she hasn't looked back since, making her mark on the Canadian music scene. She is promoting her latest single titled, Topic, which was released last September.

"The inspiration behind Topic is that I had people stalking and talking about me, and I had friends who had similar issues. So the concept was if nothing is happening for you, no one is going to talk about it. So that's why you become the 'topic', the centre of attention," she said, laughing.

Kae Music, whose given name is Karen Lewis, spent her formative years in Canaan Heights, Clarendon before permanently migrating to Canada at age eight. Her singing began in church, which helped to mould her sound and vocal versatility. She also learned to play the keyboard and piano. She was a backup singer for Sensation Band and opened for legendary acts like Freddie McGregor, Luciano, Marcia Griffiths, and Morgan Heritage in major venues in Toronto.

After the band broke up, she released two cover singles, Not The Only One (Sam Smith) and Someone Like You (Adele), in December 2015. She wrote and released her first original single in December 2016 titled The Struggle is Real and continued to hone her talents.

She released Good Place on the Amini Music Group last August and Glitter on the Wai Fuzion Records label last October.
